Album Description Steve Tyrell, whose appearances in the two "Father Of The Bride" movies, and whose albums "A New Standard" and "Standard Time" established him as a premier contemporary interpreter of the Great American Songbook, now turns his attention to one of the legendary composers in all of pop music: Burt Bacharach. Steve has a personal stake in these classic songs. As a young man breaking into the record business in the 1960s, he became head of A&R and Promotion at Scepter Records, the history-making independent label that released the famous hits written by Bacharach and his lyricist partner Hal David, and recorded by the great Dionne Warwick. Tyrell was present at the creation of standards like "Walk On By," "Alfie," "I Say A Little Prayer," and many others. Moreover, he produced B.J. Thomas' Oscar-winning recording of Bacharach-David's "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head." One can only categorize Tyrell's performances on "Back To Bacharach" as definitive. His supporting cast includes the top session players on two coasts, as well as guest collaborators Herb Alpert, Patti Austin, Dionne Warwick, James Taylor, Rod Stewart, and Martina McBride. Steve's own singular vocal style, drenched in the Texas tones of his sophisticated R&B approach, is perfectly suited to these great hits. He sings the songs exactly the way everyone wants to hear them. To top it all of, Maestro Bacharach himself appears on three tracks as a performer and two as co-producer. Steve Tyrell's "Back To Bacharach" makes the case for adding Burt Bacharach to the roster of all-time great creators of the previous generation of American Songbook immortals---Porter, Gershwin, Berlin, Kern, and Ellington. And it does so with supreme style, taste, and expertise.
Album Description Steve Tyrell brings Bacharach back to the airwaves with his 2008 album Back to Bacharach! This classic album chimes with 'Walk on By', 'The Look of Love', 'This Guy's in Love' featuring Herb Alpert, 'What the World Needs Now' featuring Dionne Warwick/James Taylor/Martina McBride/Rod Stewart/Burt Bacharach, 'One Less Bell to Answer','I Say a Little Prayer' and more. 14 tracks.

Steve Tyrell Bounces Back with a Very Good CD August 11, 2008 After a disappointing CD of Disney tunes, Steve Tyrell bounces back with a very good CD of Burt Bacharach songs. The previous CD of Disney songs did not play well into crooner mode. But his gravel tinged, warm emotional voice translates very well in this latest release. I especially like Steve's version of Walk on By, Raindrops and the star studded version of the usually corny What the World Need Now. The arrangements are very tight and crisp and it is obvious that great care was spent in making this CD.
If you've never seen Steve Tyrell in concert...you are missing a great show. He is very warm, endearing, chatty and has charisma coming out of every pore. It is clear that he loves singing and loves people.
This CD is on the same level of the "Sinatra CD" he did several years ago. There are a couple of weak songs, but 11 of the 14 tracks are really good.

GREAT PERFORMANCE !!! August 9, 2008 In the Olympics of Music, Steve Tyrell can win with this record, the gold medal. I hope next record can be about Bossa Nova.
Steve Tyrell Bacharach August 9, 2008 I have really enjoyed this CD and would recommend it to anyone, the story about making the Cd is very interesting and heart warming, after reading the story, each song takes on a new meaning-------GREAT!!!!!!
fantastic August 6, 2008 I have read several comments concerning Steve's limited vocal range, or raspy voice.. but he brings a rich quality to these songs, and I agree with one comment on how his voice is bittersweet, and he sings the songs, not with the orchestrated smoothness of the original, but as if he has lived each song. There is so much feeling transmitted with each song, and it brings up memories in my own life that the original versions never could do. A great CD.
