5 out of 5 stars My sugar is Raw   July 24, 2008

Madonna's Hard Candy is her 11th official studio album, and I think it is one of her best. In terms of enjoyable, this album exceeds expectations, its catchy light hearted and I can't get enough of it. Although albums like "Ray of Light" "Music" "Something to Remember" and "True Blue" are among her strongest..this album carries itself in its own right as her most enjoyable. It's mindless fun, and it's got alot of really good songs on it. I love "Heartbeat", "Miles Away", "She's Not Me", and "Incredible" because theyre so much fun. "Candy Shop" is a great one with some really unique sounds, and I love, of course, "4 minutes". "Beat Goes on" "give it 2 me" and "Spanish Lesson" shine her producers (Neptunes) talents alot. This album is a must, I love every song!!

5 out of 5 stars SIMPLY MADONNA'S MOST AMAZING "CLASSIC" ALBUM!   July 24, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

HARD CANDY is madonna's last album with warner brothers...it's been 25 years since 1982's "everybody" and now she's still the reigning queen of pop, the world's best selling female artist of all time, and an icon of her generation!

what makes this madonna album simply her most amazing album is that she came back to her roots: dance music - with some hiphop twists!

CANDY SHOP - reminiscent of "where's the party" if you could get the rift. the opening song for this album simply wants its listeners to get up and dance!

GIVE IT 2 ME - one of the best tracks in the album. this time madonna asks her fans to give it to her - as she wants to break records, get arrested, or be undressed - whichever you want!

4 MINUTES - good but not great. this collaboration with timbaland and justin made the fans thought that madonna will be sporting a "new hip hop sound." although 4 minutes is a good track, it was earlier thought of to isolate the vintage madonna sound from the queen of pop. luckily, the rest of the album is still madonna!

HEARTBEAT - one of the best tracks. this song just brings back the madonna of the 80's. except for the new beats, this is definitely vintage!

MILES AWAY - a ballad that seems to belong to the "ray of light" album. this is another great track.

SHE'S NOT ME - a funny but nevertheless great track. once again, madonna lashed out at "wannabes" who wanted to dethrone her. nice guitar rifts that seem to belong to the "chic" era. definitely a hard disco track reminiscent of the late 70's and early 80's - where madonna first came!

INCREDIBLE - another great track. it's just hard to classify if its a dance track, since there are many stops, but one of its good parts is the voice loops which is seldom done nowadays. another seemingly "lost in the 80's" track.

BEAT GOES ON - my favorite track! i fell in love with this song the moment i heard the 30-second sample at amazon.com!!! a disco-inspired madonna track with great rappings from kanye west! she tried not to be repetitive in the refrain as madonna changed some lyrics and arrangements and placed some "echo effects" which is also no longer common today. the best track of the album!!!

DANCE 2NIGHT - another excellent track! this song has very good basslines and guitar rifts. propbably belonged to the early 80's! the second best track in the "hard candy" album.

SPANISH LESSON - not a bad track, but seemed misplaced in the entire album.

DEVIL WOULDNT RECOGNIZE YOU - despite being a ballad, this is a great track that belongs to this album.

VOICES - a great song to close the album, although the track seems
to belong from the "ray of light" album again. it is akin to "power of goodbye."

despite all the write-ups, HARD CANDY is a better album than "music" and "american life." i could even say that it even surpassed 2005's smash "confessions on a dancefloor" as the songs in HARD CANDY are more ear-friendly and groove-ready!

get the album and complete madonna's journey with warner brothers...

she will soon be starting a new with a new label...

long live the queen!

5 out of 5 stars One of Madonna's best albums ever!!   July 20, 2008

A new wonderful album from the queen of Pop!
Madonna may be a 49-year-old working mom pushing 50, but she still loves her dance floor, her catsuits and her pop hooks. She's also an expert chameleon, co-opting current musical tastes for her own pleasure.

The album jumps off the disco of 2005's ''Confession on a Dancefloor'' with thunderous, up-tempo club grinds but also some surprisingly dark moments. The Neptunes - the production duo of Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo - add retro-synth beats while Timbaland punches up the power R&B, along with Justin Timberlake and Nate (Danja) Hills. Madonna co-wrote and co-produced the album's 12 tracks, which swerve from the psychedelic-horn blitz of the Timbaland-produced hit ''4 Minutes'' to the swooping drama of ''Voices.''

We live in a Madonna world. And as long as she keeps releasing albums as vivid, relevant, distinctive and modern as this, we will for a some time yet.

2 out of 5 stars Madonna is SO over   July 19, 2008
Madonna and I are the same age and I've loved her music and have always looked forward to her latest release; she's written and sang some of the best "pop" music of the past 25 years.

But, it's time to move on. This album is bad. Listen to the 50 year old Madonna sing the lyrics to "She's Not Me"....it's really creepy. I was excited when I heard the Justin duet to hear the entire album. Unfortunately, nothing on this CD compares to that great song...and let's all admit that was 80% Justin Timberlake and the producer.

This CD is a verifiable dud...and a 50 year old shouldn't sing songs like these.
