1 out of 5 stars Where is it?   July 17, 2008
I ordered this subscription on 6/17/08. Amazon said it would start arriving in 2-4 weeks. It is now 7/17/08, and the first issue has not yet arrived.

1 out of 5 stars A great newspaper, but buy it somewhere else!   May 27, 2008
I've been reading the FT for years and it's an essential part of being an informed reader. It's an absolutely stellar paper.

But buy this subscription anywhere but Amazon. I ordered in December and haven't seen the first issue - it's June now. Amazon/Synapse customer service was 100% useless, except for returning my money. I coudn't even speak to a service manager.

I saw reviews here warning about this, and I chalked it up to the bad luck of those folks. I know better now. Buy it anywhere else but Amazon!

1 out of 5 stars 5-Star Paper. 1-Star Delivery Service   May 16, 2008
To be fair, this review reflects on the FT's delivery service. Fire them! Bloody awful. I had subscribed to the FT for a number of years. For depth, intellect, foresight, instinct, and sheer quality of writing, no other paper can touch it. "Had" being the operative word. I would still be one of the faithful if their (outsourced) delivery service could deliver it every day (not every other day) before 7:00AM when I head off for work, rain or shine, like my dear neighbors' newspapers (NYT, USA Today, CT Post, etc.). If this immense institution can work out their delivery issues, I'll be back.

1 out of 5 stars PAPER, AWESOME; SYNAPSE BAD   April 18, 2008
Ordered the subscription on Dec 10, 2007. It is 18th of April 2008 and I still have not recieved my order. Synapse took the payment yet never reported it to the publisher. Synapse's phone number provided by FT is useless. Call the number provided by Amazon: 800-586-2199

May 6, 2008 Update
My subscription started a week ago. On Apr 21, Synapse offered to provide a refund, but promised to continue the subscription. Called FT to make sure all was in order. FT tells me that someone placed an online order for 4 week trial subscription, and that i owe $99 to FT or the subscription will be cancelled. I called Synapse back, and I am promised the issue will be resolved... but who really knows.

May 7, 2008 Update
Apparantly, someone over at FT was wrong. My subscription was paid for by Synapse. I received a call from a nice gentleman from their corporate office explaining the situation.

Additionally, I found out that it typically takes 6-8 weeks for FT fulfillment by Synapse, not 2-4 weeks as advertised by Amazon.

Finally am happy with the outcome.

1 out of 5 stars FT Fantastic - But DO NOT ORDER THROUGH AMAZON.   March 24, 2008

This is the best paper I have ever read. But I used Amazon to re-subscribe and the Synapse Services are NOT FUNCTIONAL. The paper was ordered Dec 21st 2007 and this is being written Mar 24th 2008. The Syanpse Service was first contacted Mar 7th 2008 and promised they would fix things. Then called again last Friday. They said the person in Florida had called me this morning, as I was speaking to someone in Maine. No one had called, it was a big lie.

When you call they have a 100% voice recognition system but none of this information is passed on to the person who answers the phone. So something is really missing here, like they shut down their call center and have hired people in the woods of Maine now to answer the phone.. I am just guessing.

I have to expect they are having company problems and they are not passing on the subscription money. Financial Times has no record they have been contacted by them. Do not send your money through them. Now I have to see if Amazon can get back my $$$.

I have ordered lots of stuff through Amazon for at least a decade and this is totally the exception to the rule. One of their third parties is failing and don't get stuck in their quicksand.

(followup added by myself about correcting the issue - click if interested)
