Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Set in 1978, "Detroit Rock City" follows the hilarious misadventures of four high school friends and their quest to see their heroes, Kiss, in a sold out concert. When their Kiss tickets are burned by a religious fanatic parent, the four teens must battle, well, everything that could possibly go wrong, in an effort to see, in person, the "Loudest band in the world.""Detroit Rock City" is a wonderful film that manages to strike a nice balance of John Hughes teen comedy and late-seventies period piece. The performances are all quite good and the soundtrack manages to help capture the time brilliantly. The catchy direction by Adam Rifkin lends an almost comic book-like feel to the proceedings, which only helps add to the nostalgic feel of this film. "Detroit Rock City" is not the campy fiasco that Kiss' previous film, "Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park", was. Instead, it is a celebration of a significant, yet largely forgotten, movement in seventies pop culture.

5 out of 5 stars Is This Supposed To Be A Comedy? Please Advise!!!   November 18, 2005

This movie is a sorry excuse for a comedy about 4 High School stoners who main ambition in life is to see Kiss in concert back in 1978.They embark on a quest to the city of Detroit where the concert is being held. One of them contemplates robbing a convenieence store, another guy suffers from premajature ejaculation and can't hold his liquor either. This is because these losers have no cash to buy tickets . Maybe they should not have spent all their money on drugs.I give this highly overrated movie 5 stars because I like the Pontiac Trans Am car in this movie. That's about all it has going for it.Perhaps this movie started Edward Fulrlong into his downward spiral of drugs excesses which is why he is no longer dating Paris Hilton.
