Product Description Approved by the USATT for tournament play, Butterfly's 72-count set of 40 millimeter balls is great for multi-ball training or practicing your serves. The storage bucket offers a convenient place to store and tote around the balls with its zippered top, carrying handle, and adjustable shoulder strap. About Butterfly Hikosuke Tamasu founded Tamasu Co., Ltd. in the small town of Yanai City, Japan in 1950. This was the beginning of a company career which is almost unique in table tennis. A renowned international for Japan, Tamasu fulfilled his dream of a lifetime when he made his hobby his profession. At that time, he could hardly imagine that he would make Butterfly the leading brand worldwide. Creativity, durability, and a profound technical knowledge meant success. 0ver and over again he looked for new possibilities in order to optimize techniques by innovative playing material. Tamasu realized that each player is different and has strengths and weaknesses. By offering individual playing material Tamasu wanted to help players right from the beginning to emphasize their individuality. Since 1983 Butterfly has its own training and research center in Tokyo. Highly qualified scientists co-operate with world class players and coaches for the development of rubber and blade technology. Butterfly's rubbers and blades are used by more than half of the participants at World and European Championships.

this is not standard practice ball July 24, 2008 rememeber this is USATT approved and not ITTF approved - the balls are terrible - bad shape, light and everything else that can go wrong - so if you are a serious player please do not buy these balls. But if you are a basement player then this may be a good deal.
Quality June 9, 2008 The balls are very light and I wonder it meets the 3 star standard/ I am ver dissapointed.
Excellent Balls; on my second set May 30, 2008 I have a Robo Pong 2040 so these balls are an economical choice for me. I don't really understand where this negative feedback is coming from. I just received my second bucket of balls (my first was purchased over a year ago and the balls were fine). I personally bounced each ball and served it into the machine's reservoir; all 72 balls bounced evenly.
I purchased the balls directly from Amazon both times, perhaps this is the reason for the inconsistent reviews? Either way, I am loving the value of these! This second set should mean I'll be able to practice much longer before having to pick up loose balls. :)
Butterfly 3 star USTTA approved table tennis balls May 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I play Senior Olympics and I use these balls for practice/play. They are quality balls. Butterfly makes a 3 star that is rated ITTF approved. The ITTF ones are a slightly higer rating at a greatly increased price. When I practice, I play with a lot of players that will only use the 'best' balls. I tell them we can use my Buterfly 3 stars and that is fine with them. I cannot tell any difference in the USTTA and the ITTF and obviously they can't either. No one has even noticed that they are not the 'BEST'. Good quality for the money.

Attempted to order on-line from another source, however the shipping was more than the product. I am glad I checked out Amazon. I am very happy with the quality of the product AND I got free shipping. I am sold on Amazon.
