Works great! August 17, 2008 I felt compelled to write a review after reading some of the not-so-good reviews here.
First off, this is an insulated water bottle NOT a thermos! If you need your water to stay ice cold for 4 hours get a thermos. I've been using the same one for over 2 years primarily for cycling---it fits just fine in the standard water bottle cage contrary to another review I read. Yesterday we cycled 70 miles in 95 degree weather. Although not ice cold, my water was definitely cool & refreshing compared to my husband's uninsulated water. One thing I like to do is freeze our full water bottles the night before. His water was thawed and warm within an hour...mine still had a little ice in it after 2 hours in hot weather. I have never had any problems with plastic taste. This product does exactly what it's supposed to do!
Polar water bottle August 15, 2008 Great insulation factor, keeps colder longer than I anticipated. This is a non-toxic plastic and there is no taste factor. The product really delivers what it advertises.
Summer ride, ice lasts for 2 hours, cool for 3 August 13, 2008 I have found that a regular water bottle filled with ice and cold water keeps the ice for about 30 minutes while the Polar bottle kept the ice for about 2 hours and the remaining liquid cool for another hour. This wasn't an experiment, just observations about riding with water bottles on a warm but not hot day in the summertime.
I am very happy with this product and the online price is more than $5 less than the price at the local bike shop (!). With the free shipping, this is a good deal so I am buying more for friends and family. A basic $2 water bottle is fine for an exercise class in an air conditioned building but I'll take the Polar along for an afternoon's ride.
Love them! August 9, 2008 Our family loves these water bottles. I have had one for over 6 years, and recently bought different colors for each member of our family. Now everyone is responsible for their own water on outings, and it stays cold! I highly recommend them.
Did not live to it's expectations... August 6, 2008 I expected the bottle to keep liquids relatively cool but it's pretty much foil that's used for the polar insulation, a very cheap solution. I do like the volume of water it holds, the fact you can stick it in the dishwasher and the black loop to carry it around. However, it has no acrylic protective cap over the mouthpiece and I end up drinking with the cap off.
