Amazon.com Review The American-based company Lodge has been fine-tuning its construction of rugged, cast-iron cookware for more than a century. No other metal is as long-lasting and works as well for spreading and retaining heat evenly during cooking. Lodge's Logic line of cookware comes factory pre-seasoned with the company's vegetable oil formula, and is ready to use right out of the box. This professional-size cast-iron grill/griddle combo from the Lodge Logic series measures 20 by 10-1/2 inches (with an actual cooking surface of 19-1/4 by 8-1/2 inches), serious enough to straddle either a campfire or two burners on your stovetop. The reversible feature of this crowd-pleasing cooker means you can use the smooth side for cooking flapjacks, eggs, and grilled cheese sandwiches, and the ridged grill side for hamburgers, steaks, and sausages. A slight slope drains fat into a generous grease gutter, and the two loop-style handles provide safe transport. After the meal is done, simply scrub the cast iron with a stiff brush and hot water, no soap, and dry immediately. Lodge covers the sturdy griddle with a lifetime limited warranty against defects. This pan is guaranteed to pass down from one generation to the next. --Ann Bieri

Pancakes anyone? July 18, 2008 I did not expect it to be this good. It is better than the built-in griddle in the stove!
My plan was to use this on the BBQ outside. My wife has taken this for the stove and uses it every day!
Heavy, warning not for people that have issues lifting heavy pots.
One side stripes, the other smooth.
You can heat up 1/2 on the stove with one burner for a small crowd.
Great Grill/Griddle June 29, 2008 This is exactly what I was looking for. Very heavy, but I knew that and expected it. I love cooking with cast iron because there are no harmful toxins from non-stick coatings. The pre-seasoning is pretty good, didn't have to season it myself. But it is getting better and better with each use. If you care for it properly, it will be so non-stick that all you have to do to clean it is scour it under hot water and the water will bead up and roll off. Mine already does and I've only had it about a month. We leave it out on our gas stovetop all the time and use it frequently. We dry it after washing by turning on the gas under it until the water evaporates and then put a light coat of oil on it and rub it in with a paper towel to coat. Great purchase if you like cast iron cookware.
Unbearable heaviness of grilling June 5, 2008 Makes a great burger according to my eight year old son who is an expert at eating them. Definitely a welcome addition in the kitchen, but a few caveats are in order. First of all it is very heavy - two hands required to lift it. Don't buy it if you have a porcelain sink as you will have to rest it against the side to clean it and you will scratch your sink. You also may want to measure the distance between your burners. It does not fit perfectly on mine and it has to be shifted toward the front in order to lay flat.
Just what I wanted June 4, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My husband and son bought me the griddle for mother's day and it was exactly what I wanted. The trick, as I think was previously mentioned in an earlier review, is to heat the griddle up pretty good before you put food on it, so the food doesn't stick. If you sprinkle a few drops of water on it and it immediately evaporates, the griddle is too hot, but if the water just sits there, give it a little longer to heat up. I'm able to fit 8 big slices of bread on the griddle. My only complaints -- it's heavy, but I knew that going in -- it's cast iron after all! And I end up with a cool spot on the griddle between the two burners of my stove. But again, that's certainly not the fault of the griddle! If you're looking for a good non-stick grill/griddle without teflon coating, this is a keeper.
Lousy Griddle on Electric Stove May 31, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The griddle side heats unevenly, probably due to 1) The ridged bottom, and 2) existence of electric coils on the stove, rather than a flame. This doesn't change, no matter how long you preheat. Pancakes aren't evenly colored.
Perhaps the ridged side works better, because then the smooth side would be against the coils.
