Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
With this non-stop, self-adjusting Casio Waveceptor timepiece, you don't have to worry about replacing batteries because it's solar powered and you'll have confidence of always knowing the correct time via the integrated atomic timekeeping technology. This stylish watch is suitable for both professional and casual wear, and it's complemented by a contemporary black resin strap. It includes a stopwatch function that can measure events down to 1/100 of a second for the first 60 minutes (and down to 1 second from 60 minutes to 100 hours), and it offers elapsed and split time modes, and 1st-2nd place times. Other timekeeping features include:
  • World Time: 29 time zones (30 cities), city code display, daylight saving on/off
  • 3 Daily Alarms
  • Hourly Time Signal
  • 12/24 Hour Formats
This timepiece also features an Auto Calendar (pre-programmed until the year 2039), 15-second accuracy per month, Afterglow backlighting, and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet)--offering protection from accidental splashes as well suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and light recreational diving. This solar-powered watch has a battery life of up to 5 months on a full charge (without further exposure to light).

This multi-band radio-controlled watch receives a time calibration signal transmitted from several locations across the globe (the U.S. and Japan), and it has an auto receive function (up to 6 times per day). You can choose to automatically receive this signal four times a day, or manually update the watch to the atomic clock.

5 out of 5 stars Waveceptor works great!   October 6, 2008
Received my Waveceptor recently and am thrilled to have a watch that I don't have to be concerned that it is on-time, or that I have worry that the battery will go flat. It was fun to see the watch set the time immediately after taking it out of its shipping box. It re-synchronizes itself every night without fail. I am still getting familiar with all the features and keep referring back to the manual. I'm very satisfied with the watch and am grateful for other reviews to point me in to buying this watch.

Only one caution; if you use your watch as a wake-up alarm you need to be a light sleeper with the Waveceptor as the alarm isn't very loud and only lasts a few seconds, I suppose to conserve the battery.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent   September 23, 2008

My 14 year old son wanted a watch as he started High School. He pored over Amazon reviews and selected a few Casio watches. I wanted it to be Green as well and it would be nice if the watch adjusted itself automatically, day and night. He wanted both Analog and Digital displays with Date. This led us to The Waveceptor Atomic Solar. The reviews were pretty good.

The watch started moving as soon as we opened the box. It set itself the time. So connecting to the source wasn't an issue. Being in an urban area on the East coast closer to New York helped maybe. The display is neat and kind of cute. The watch appears a bit big (not the Skagen look), but very appropriate for a High schooler - tough and sturdy. The strap is sturdy resin construction; I have seen such straps to break over a period of many years, but that is long way off. It is water resistant enough to wear it during swimming. The instruction manual was a challenge and we were concerned reading it at night - it is impractically small, but there is always daylight!

Can't be happier with this. I will probably get one myself for Holidays!

4 out of 5 stars Set up issue   September 13, 2008

Pretty watch. One minor annoyance. I cannot change the Japanese character that shows the day. No matter how much I try, I cannot get it done. The manual is not easy to follow.

After viewing the manual online, I followed the instructions, and managed to change the date from Japanese to English. After pressing and holding button A, press C until you see flashing date in Japanese. Then, press D to change it. As I said before, the manual is not easy. But, after many failed attempts you can figure it out.

5 out of 5 stars I totally agree with Jim K. and his review   September 11, 2008

I also normally don't write product reviews, but I feel obligated to do so because I appreciated this watch so much. I bought a Tissot digital watch 5 months before I bought this Casio. Since Casio is much cheaper, I was going to wear it for sports such as mountain biking and swimming. But after a few weeks using the Casio, I love it so much that I don't use other watches anymore. I didn't think the Wave-ceptor feature is reliable or useful. But I totally changed my mind after using it. Having a watch that is accurate to the second all the time is a real pleasure. The Wave-ceptor feature works really well.

The manual is small and has room for improvement. The setup is actually not that hard except time zone and daylight saving time. This is a rare product that is with good quality, inexpensive, and functioning well.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic watch and great value!   September 6, 2008

This watch was exactly what i was looking for. Low cost, no batteries to replace, and atomic clock accuracy. The quality is great for the price. It's very comfortable to wear. I prefer this watch to all of my other watches that cost 8 times more.
