Great for the price September 30, 2008 After spending all of my money on a new mountain bike, I had very little money left for all the accessories. Luckily this bike rack was inexpensive, and arrived in two days with Amazon Prime. I've used it almost every other day to go riding after work. I have probably put 500 miles on it with a bike attached, It is still snug without any retightening. It is great for one bike, I keep it on the middle hook. When I needed to attach my friend's bike, it fit with very little effort. I just don't see three bikes fitting on this rack. The one major problem with this rack is that the rubber hooks the bike attaches to can slide. I don't attach my bike tightly against my car to prevent the pedal from scratching. After driving, the mounts gradually move up the rack. Other than that it is a good rack for the price.
Easy and Portable 2 Bike Carrier September 23, 2008 I purchased this bike rack locally from a bike shop because I wanted to make sure that it would work with my Honda Accord. I should have purchased it from Amazon because I paid a way higher price. But, the rack itself is pretty sturdy and well built. I do not feel that I could get three bikes on the rack unless I removed the bike pedals and cramed all the bikes together. It does make reference to a 100 pound limit and each of my bikes weighs approximately 40 pounds. Also when you load two bikes on the rack, the weight will shift and tend to free the lower two tie downs and should be checked and retightened before takeoff. This is explained in the instructions. One should be aware that the bike pedals could scuff the bumpers if the bike is pushed to far into the rack. The three sets of rubber mounts can be moved and twisted to fit the bikes. It does come with six rubber tie downs to secure the bikes to the rack. My mountain bikes have small frames where one end of the bike will go through the rack and rest on the support while the end with the handle bars will rest on top of the support. So I use the rubber tie downs that came with the rack however, I also purchased a set of bungee cords to secure the bikes and keep the wheels from hitting each other during the bumpy roads. The rack is very quick to install and remove. You can remove the tension on the rack and store flat but I feel that this might cause too much ware and tear on the tighenting knob, so for security purpose I just remove and store in the trunk. Other racks that I researched use velcro and I feel that this rack with the included tie downs was a much better deal for the price.
Surprised nobody has had this problem... September 19, 2008 Overall, I like the rack but there are a couple of things I do not like. First, like one poster also mentioned, the long straps just dangle in the wind unless you use a rubber band to wrap them up with. I will probably just cut the excess off because the bands will end up breaking.
Also, I have a Trek mountain bike and I can only put it on the back (the farthest out) rungs on the rack. If I try to use the others, the pedal hits my car! (yes I tried rotating it, but it definitely hits the car) I do not need to put 3 bikes on the rack, but I definitely wanted to be able to put 2 on it but I can't figure out how this is possible. I have a Corolla so I would have thought this would not be an issue with this car.
Other than that, it stays put surprisingly well, and I am fairly content.
Solid rack at good price, easy to use September 16, 2008 With the six rubber holders included with the rack, this is a breeze to secure the bikes and go. Not sure how three would fit on this however, as two had the inner bike right up against the car. Very easy to use, I am satisfied.
Works Great September 11, 2008 This did just what is was suppose to do. It fit 3 bikes just fine. The 3rd was a youth bike. It took a little thought to get all three on but now that we know how it's easy.
