Still a breath of fresh air May 6, 2008 Even less happens in this book than in the previous ones, but who cares? The subtly humorous writing, the memorable characters, the optimism and the flavour of Africa make this delightful series a regular treat.
A Joy to Read April 24, 2008 All of the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency books are wonderful. They make one feel so good - you can't help but smile as you read. I have never wanted to visit Botswana more than while reading these novels.
The Good Husband of Zebra Drive April 21, 2008 Once again Alexander McCall Smith entertains us and uplifts our spirits as Mma Ramotswe and her colleagues deal with human nature and developing world economics with resourcefulness and grace. Kudos to Mr. JLB for his quick thinking!
The Good Husband of Zebra Drive April 20, 2008 As with all of McCall Smith's delightful novel/mysteries, The Good Husband of Zebra Drive is enchanting, but I didn't find myself laughing out loud as I had with most of the previous books in that series. It seemed to be more of a study in personalities, namely Mma Makutsi and Mr. J.L.B Matekoni, the former of whom I have begun to harbor a great aversion. I'm sure she will be presented as likeable again, eventually.
Excellent April 19, 2008 The Good Husband of Zebra Drive - as usual, a wonderful story told simply but with the maturity and good sense of the characters.
