5 out of 5 stars A ruthless killer, a love triangle, and the search for Bonnie!!   June 15, 2008

WOW, I finished reading this in 3-4 days and and am still having thoughts in my head about what could of happened differently and what may happen next in Iris Johansens next book. This book had it all from non stop excitement to the return of characters from the past, another great book By Iris Johansen and Ill be anxiously awaiting her next book for the Eve Duncan series.

I dont know why but Iam hooked on Montalvo,I cant ger enough of him. After reading Stalemate I couldnt wait for Iris Johansen to come out with another book containing Montalvo,if I were Eve I would of left Joe for him in a heartbeat. Montalvo can relate to the loss of a loved one since he had lost his wife, and it seems tha Joe is getting really tired of Eve mentioning Bonnie and searching for her, I think its only a matter of time before they split up.

3 out of 5 stars Para-Natural   June 4, 2008

The story was intriguing in the description of evil and skilled antagonists, but it became very para-normal.

5 out of 5 stars Best In The Series   May 29, 2008

I have always liked the Eve Duncan series, so I have read every one of the Eve Duncan books, even though I often find the author's writing style quite poor. Even in this book, alot of the dialogue was painfully bad, and some of the situations were characteristically far fetched. Nonetheless, I found this a totally riveting book and thought it by far the best in the series. The plot itself kept my interest from the very first page, all the characters - even ones I previously disliked (Montalvo) - were likeable and compelling, and the ending was quite poignant and satisfying (although still not really a resolution of anything). For anyone that has ever liked anything by this author, this is an absolute must read.

4 out of 5 stars A Good Read, Especially if You Love Montalvo   May 20, 2008

This was another really good read in the Eve Duncan series, although I still find myself getting tired of Eve on occasion. I was happy to see a reappearance of Montalvo, was a little perked up by the fact that Joe Quinn grew a new backbone in this story, and was really excited by the part that Megan Blair played in the story (see PANDORA'S DAUGHTER).

I know that Eve needs to find the body of her daughter, Bonnie, for closure. I know that she's obsessed with this task. But, sometimes, you just want to smack her for letting it ruin so many other aspects of her life.

Many times throughout QUICKSAND I had to wonder what either Joe or Montalvo see in this woman -- I think she'd drive me batty. No matter what happens in the long run, though, I hope to see more of a paranormal aspect to the storyline: and it seems that there will be, what with the way the story ends.

If you're a follower of the Eve Duncan series, you'll want to read this one. It's good overall, and you can always hope that Montalvo comes to his senses and looks for a new woman to obsess over soon.
