5 out of 5 stars Excellent   December 5, 2007

Excellent job in preparing you for the MPRE. Although Mr. Lazarus is not as exciting as one would hope, he does an excellent job covering the material. Additionally, the 150 practice questions are an excellent help because they have an analysis of each answer choice.

Get this aid and you will pass! I did, and I didn't even take Professional Responsibility!

5 out of 5 stars Formula for Success   December 5, 2007
I purchased this program to prepare for the 11/03/07 administration of the MPRE. Yesterday, 12/03/07 I received my score via e-mail. I got a scales score of 99 which is a passing score for any jurisdiction.

I simply followed the instructions, step one read the outline (less than 40 pages), two watch the video and takek notes, step three do the practice questions (there are only 150). I work full-time so I studied during the evening (using only this material) the week before the exam.

I know other reviewers have slammed the professor for simply reading the outline, but for me, an audible learner, the video reinforced the material. The key to the MPRE, like the MBE are the practice questions. If you can't do the entire progrram at least do all the practice questions which are the most recently released by the NCBE. Good Luck.

3 out of 5 stars Good, but not comprehensive   December 4, 2007

I took the MPRE in November 2007. When I left the exam, I was sorry that I had relied on this book because I was not sure that I had passed the exam. A lot of the material on the test was not covered in the book. I felt worse when I talked to a fellow test taker who had used both Bar/Bri and Pieper to prepare for the exam.

I got my results yesterday and scored a 123, well above the 85 I needed to pass in my jurisdiction. Here are some of my thoughts on the book and the MPRE in general.

If you have a lot of time to study, are not a good test taker, have enough money, or just don't want to take any chances, I would explore Bar/Bri or perhaps some other more comprehensive programs. I know that I would have felt more confident leaving the exam if I had gone with Bar/Bri based on my past experience with them on Bar exam prep. Since I didn't use these programs I don't know anything about them, but I would recommend looking into them.

Reading the outline, watching the video, and doing the practice questions takes only about 16 hours, max. If that's all the time you have, this book may be the right choice.

I also bought a copy of the model rules from the ABA, but did not find it helpful. The rules are set up in a manner that is different than the outline, and I was afraid of confusion.

I thought the video was helpful. Mine worked fine (it stuck in only one place) and I found it to be a useful companion to the outline.

Remember, the MPRE is scaled, with 50 being the lowest and 150 the highest score. So a 72 or 85 passing score is still below the average. You don't need to kill yourself to pass this exam.

The 150 test questions in the book were helpful, but a number of them were covered in the lecture. I thought the questions in the book were much easier than those on the actual exam I took. I personally believe the best way to prepare for these type of exams is to do as many sample questions as possible. I would have like to have had more of them.

5 out of 5 stars More than enough to pass the MPRE   December 3, 2007
I bought this book the week before the November 2007 MPRE and studied from it two days before the exam, completing all the practice questions. I probably put in no more than 15 hours of studying total.

Like many others, I doubted this book's value when I came out of the exam thinking that I didn't do very well and may even have failed. Folks who prepped with BarBri felt the same way. Well, today MPRE scores came out and I got a 137--far, far above the score of 85 I needed for my jurisdiction.

Clearly, this book worked. I can't recommend it more highly. Buy it, study from it, and ignore any bad feelings you have after the MPRE.

5 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended   September 13, 2007

This was the only study aid I used for the August 07 MPRE. My scaled score was above 100 (I needed an 85). As a busy practitioner with little to no time to study, this study aid was all I used. I read the 38 page outline, watched the 4+ hour DVD and did all 150 practice questions (over the course of a week). Due to the time crunch, I did not review answer explanations to the sample questions (which is something I would suggest doing, time permitting). I concur with other reviewers that the 150 sample questions in this book are the same as those you can purchase from the NCBE.
