I liked this book a lot. January 25, 1999 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Sarah, a rich girl from Mannhatten, is forced to move to Michigan with her sister and her husband while her parents figure out what to do with there problems. Sarah hates Michiagan at first but she learns to like it. This all changes when she gets a wounded horse named Grand Travers Bay from her sisters friend. She and Ellie, the dalmation, are always outside with the horse. Until one day when it is time to take the horse out side, for its first walk since it was wounded, and the horse drags her accross the field. Sarah knows that it was her fault thought because she wrapped the lead rope around her wrist. After that happened she had to go to the hospital and get it sown up. Finally the time comes when Sarah asks her sister why she and her mom have been so secretive and she tells her that her parents are broke. Sarah has to make a descion wether to stay in Michigan or go back to New York. She makes her descion and stays in Michigan. Over this whole period of time she is always e-mailing her best friend Katie. The book is written in the form of an e-mail to her friend Katie. The End
My niece LOVED this book! January 22, 1999 I bought this book for my niece for Christmas and she LOVED it, she couldn't put it down and she isn't a big reader. I read it too, and it is hilarious. The descriptions of Michigan are dead-on accurate and the references to the superiority of New York will tweak many a midwesterners nose. But, Sarah starts to love Michigan, so that makes her all right with me. A great coming of age story for girls, and I love the Internet component.
A book every kid in the nineties should read. January 21, 1999 Sarah's page grabs hold of what it is about to come to terms with who we are as kids in the nineties world. It is so real, and believable. Sarah is the kind of friend you want to have to e-mail and share with, and what's great about this book, is you CAN, on the webpage that goes with it! Awesome.
I loved this book! January 20, 1999 This book was great. I was born a Michigander and I was glad to see Sarah begin to like it up here. The horse stuff was definetly cool, in fact, just a few hours ago, I was walking a horse and I remembered not to wrap my hands up in the reins!!! Weird, huh?
This book is totally connected to real life situations! January 18, 1999 My personal review of this book is 100% awesome! It deals with real life stuff, and I know because my best bud Stephanie moved and we e-mailed eachother just like Sarah and Katie. Plus I love dalmations and horses so this was like my perfect book. :P
