5 out of 5 stars The Broken H   February 5, 2008

Sheriff Grayson Hunter has been running from his past for twelve years. After finally giving in to his feelings and being rejected, Gray can't stand to be around the place that has so many memories for him. Now he is being forced to go back to his home after an accident leaves his father unable to work The Broken H and he has to find a way to work with the man that can still tie him up in knots.

Shane Cortez has never understood what it was that made Gray run from The Broken H. Shane may have been attracted to Gray all those years ago, but he never felt good enough for him because of his own unattractive past. Shane has watched Gray all these years, between his days on the rodeo circuit and then on the SWAT force in San Antonio. But after all this time, Shane has finally come to terms with the fact that he wants to be with Gray.

On his first night back, Gray can't believe it when he ends up in bed with Shane. When the two men fall into the beginnings of a relationship, it looks as if everything might work out for them. Of course, things are never as easy as they seem and Gray, along with Shane, will have to face a number of obstacles before they can ever come together.

I have been anxiously waiting for the sequel to The Tin Star to come out since turning the last page on that tale, and The Broken H surpasses every one of my expectations! Gray and Shane are an incredible couple, engaging and very relatable. Their journey is one that brought tears to my eyes and I thoroughly enjoyed how supportive they were of each other. Gray's family is one that everyone wishes they could be born into and with the appearance of several hugely appealing characters from The Tin Star, The Broken H is teaming over with charming supportive characters. I loved every minute of The Broken H and can't wait to see what J.L. Langley will come up with next!!

5 out of 5 stars 4.5 Blue Ribbons from Romance Junkies!   December 5, 2007

Shane Cortez has lived on the Broken H ranch since he was a 16 year old kid. He has loved Grayson Hunter just as long but has refused to pursue his feelings because of their age difference. It takes the sudden illness of the man who raised him for Shane to finally come to grips with who and what he wants. And he wants Grayson, forever.

Sheriff Grayson Hunter has loved Shane since his father first gave Shane a home. Grayson has stayed away from his home and Shane since the day years ago when he tried to come clean about his feelings for Shane and was rebuffed. When Gray's father falls ill and Shane needs help at the Broken H, he decides to go after his heart's desire. That desire is Shane Cortez, forever.

Shane and Grayson embark on a journey neither one of them expected. Shane is cautious about showing his true feelings because of Grayson's elected position of sheriff. Plus, there are things in his past that he has not revealed to anyone; least of all Grayson.

THE BROKEN H by J. L. Langley was a remarkable read. I found myself immersed in a wonderful love story. Shane Cortez held my heart from the beginning because of his love and respect for Grayson. Speaking of Grayson, I found myself proud of the fact that he refused to allow Shane to give up on their relationship as well as their love.

Readers should note that this is a homoerotic love story and may not be for everyone. That said, I can happily say that the plot flowed and the story kept my attention. Romantic, well written, and often time naughty, I adored THE BROKE H and find myself looking forward to futures releases by this author! ***Natasha Smith for Romance Junkies***

2 out of 5 stars How boring!   December 3, 2007

I bought this book because of someone else's opinion. Frankly I was suckered into buying this one. This is the most boring and pathetic book I have read so far. Can you say blagh! Not a lot of action, It was just boring and I could have feared better reading it as an e-book and saved the s & h. Really, if you have reached the bottom of the barrel get this one, but I don't really recommend it. Try the Tin Star its much better and you will love the characters.

Like the other reviewers here, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the book. As sequels go, it was pretty good and I like the way the some of the characters from Tin Star crossed over into the story.

That being said, the book really needed to be proofed better for grammatical mistakes, punctuation and missing words. I came across several places that I had to re-read because words were missing or extra words were inserted that caused the sentence to not make sense.

Otherwise, it's a good read and I wish there were more quality stories out there like this.

5 out of 5 stars My New Favorite Book   November 14, 2007

This is totally one of my new favorite books! The characters are "real", and I was really able to relate to their struggles even though I've never had that kind of experience before. If you're looking for something steamy, you'll find it here! If you're looking for a good story, you'll find that here too! It caters not only to those of us looking for something hot to read, but also to those of us that would like a plot to follow along with. I am reccomending this to anyone I know looking for a good m/m romance!
