exceptional May 29, 2008 This was a great read. Extremely eye opening, enlightening. I would recommend this to anyone looking to explore their beliefs
Bell on Paper May 22, 2008 If you've ever heard Rob Bell speak, you will recognize the exact same style in this book. As a result, reading Sex. God. becomes a conversation with Bell. Though, he does not respond to my questions when I ask him ;). This book is definitely written to a postmodern generation. The connection Bell makes are not always rational, and that is okay. It is not a manual for dealing with one's sexuality as much as a journey seeking what it means to be created in a sexual way. I agree with what Bell says, but if you have never heard his theology be prepared for a postmodern millieu of odd connections and deconstruction.
His book is biblically based, but sometimes does not reflect great exegesis of biblical text... but that is not the purpose of the book. Pick up this book with an attitude of awe towards your sexuality. Ponder the ideas Bell promotes. Allow it to permeate into your being instead of just bounce around your head. Experience the book, do not read it. I changed my approach to the book after about two chapters, and found it to be a very challenging approach to sexuality rather than a confusing collection of sentences. Bell is not an excellent writer of literature, but does an excellent job of challenging his reader to find God in their sexuality.
Awesome!! May 22, 2008 Every woman should read this book!! it is a must. Rob Bell has a unique style that always seems to grab my attention--it reaches out across many audiences and I have no doubt that some part of this book will touch you.
Contemporary Culture, Sexuality and Spirituality April 24, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This well-written, extremely readable book is one of today's best looks at the intersection of sexuality and spirituality. Writing with an holistic approach to mature personhood, popular author Rob Bells guides us to deeper understandings of the nature of growing, changing, and becoming adults.
Especially encouraging for singles, the book points us beyond today's sex-obsessed media-driven culture toward a Kingdom that endures forever. With that Kingdom in view, our perspective on intimacy changes.
Thought-provoking, inspiring --- and at times troubling (useful for generating further thought and reflection) this book is a must-read for today's single adults --- and useful for all.

Sex God- Rob Bell April 12, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Lets make sure you are not missing out on life: If you havent heard of Rob Bell, his magnetic, contemporary "christian" messages, his video and his book, you are missing one of the brightest "christian" minds the American culture has to offer. If you have teenagers and have not read this and bought them a couple, again you are missing a great opportunity to reveal to your kids that you are capable of "getting it". Although Rob tends to get a little heavy, if you hang in there, he will deliver and enlighten. His perspective of the modern "christian" lanscape is truly top down as well as over the horizon. One of the best reads recently.
