I am a teacher education student and I read this book to a class of 1st graders and they loved it. It teaches all of the wonders of Michigan. It also has a wonderful vocabulary. I would highly recomend this book to anyone that loves the state of Michigan.
Sing-a-long Poems for the very young! March 21, 2000 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I love this book! As a teacher, this book has been such a great tool - the kids, especially preschool and kindergarten, will even sit still during the lively little poems that Ms. Wargin wrote for each letter - they even learn a few facts along the way, too. Some of my little ones even have memorized some poems! Neat book.

We at Michigan Magazine television have had the extreme pleasure to visit with the illustrator, Michael Glenn Monroe, for an upcoming segment in regards to M is for Mitten and Buzzy the bumblebee and have found a wonderful dedication to collaborate with Annie Appleford and Kathy-jo Wargin in creating exciting illustrations that are bound to stimulate and encourage youngsters to learn the alphabet and more about our Great Lakes State!
Beautiful artwork! Destined to be a bestseller in Michigan. October 2, 1999 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
There are three books in one. An ABC book in peotic verse; a factual book with information in the columns on each page and in the fact sheet at the end; plus a richly painted book of art by one of Michigan's best wildlife artists. A treasure for all ages.
