"Just Gus" is the book that made Howard Stern cry. He also followed up on this comment by interviewing the author on his show.
More pictures than words August 5, 2006 17 out of 19 found this review helpful
Well, I bought this book because of the title and subject matter. It really isn't a reading book but more of beautiful pictures of Gus and his owner. A sad tale but you really never get much of a story. I thought it would have more hints and tales about Gus--in depth. But you only get the fringe and just by looking at the pictures they tell a story (a girl that is dying and her dog that helps her through and then he finds a new home) without words. So, I flipped through in half an hour and now the book is on the coffee table.

One of the reviewers below said that this book made Howard Stern cry. I think the actual book Stern was referring to is 'Marley and Me'.
A touching visual and written journal of faith and devotion June 23, 2006 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Gus was a stray in New York City who was hit by a truck and left for dead: he seemed slated to become one of the millions euthanized yearly, but was saved by good Samaritans and entered the life of New York writer Stephanie Williams. JUST GUS: A RESCUED DOG AND THE WOMAN HE LOVED tells the story, with Stephanie's sister writing of their devotion in a blend of photolog and memoir (photos by Roslyn banish). When Stephanie fell ill with cancer, it was Gus who stayed beside her to provide comfort in this touching visual and written journal of faith and devotion.
