A dazzling photography book of the flora, fauna, and scenery of Lake Superior January 5, 2006 Lake Superior Secrets is a dazzling photography book of the flora, fauna, and scenery of Lake Superior. A caption of one to two sentences garnishes each beautiful, full-color image, caught on film by Bruce Montague, a nature photographer with over 15 years experience. An especial treat for nature lovers, as its photographs illuminate everything from wind-blown sand and snow dunes to ancient pictures written in red ochre on stone cliffs to a stunning image of a ring-billed gull against a clear blue sky. Highly recommended.
The most beautiful book! November 8, 2005 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Photographer Bruce Montagne has produced a spectacular book of photographs and reflections of and about Lake Superior. For over ten years, Montagne traveled by foot, kayak and snowshoes taking photographs and ultimately writing his thoughts about Lake Superior.
Montagne's photographs are stunning and evoke as many emotions as there are pictures. Each looks to be carefully and lovingly thought out and then captured through his lens. As beautiful as Montagne's photographs are, so is his narrative. It is rich and multi-layered and accurately depicts the beauty of a magnificent region of our country.
I devoured Lake Superior Secrets and found myself longing for a road trip to watch the changing colors that occur each fall. And I wanted to visit the places Montagne photographed to try and view them as he saw them, with awe and wonder of their splendid majesty.
Armchair Interviews says: This is a beautiful book that the reader will cherish forever. It is a perfect gift for all nature lovers. I highly recommend it.
