Have to give this 5 stars December 24, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I love this herbal, and it's one of my favorites. Rosemary Gladstar knows her herbs! The book is divided up into sections with different recipes for different ailments. There is a chapter for beauty, in which she has recipes for lotions, hair rinses, beauty cream, etc. There is a chapter dedicated to womanly problems, men's health, herbal remedies for children, elderly, and a general chapter that has herbal concoctions to aid sleep and relaxation, and remedies for other general complaints. I have used many of the recipes and they work very well. I love the tea for relaxation, very powerful. I also love the facial cream and facial grains. She has a glossary in the back with full color pictures. Her writing style is very personal. I highly recommend this book! I keep it on my bookshelf within easy reach and refer to it often. A very good family herbal.
This book is a must November 11, 2007 This book is so full of information you almost want to treat it like a text book. It's a recipe book for herbal creations and a reference book for treating ailments. I would recommend this book to anyone that wants to improve their health and wellbeing.
Rosemary is always good reading September 23, 2007 Once again, Rosemary is engaging and thorough on basic herbal health ideas for the entire family.
The pictues are lovely, and the book well laid out. This is a hard cover book which is a real plus for people like me that reference often.
The cover is magnificent as well. A must have for your herbal library

Ugh! Just use the "Search Inside" tool and read some of the "Surprise Me" pages, and you'll see what I'm talking about. (You can re-click "Surprise Me" to bring up other sections but only one or two extra times.) Anyhow, this lady just tries to incorporate her religious theology into practically every page, and it gets real old real quick. So, just consider yourself warned. Unless you like the idea of aimlessly seeking "spirituality" in EVERYTHING, including my (yeah, you know what,) ~cough cough pantheist cough~ you're not going to find yourself connecting with the book very well, or the rest of the world for that matter -according to the author- not to mention, you'll come back as a flea when you die.
Pardon, all the sarcasim, usually that's not like me, but the way this author tries to push/infiltrate HER philosophy is a joke! And one I can't excuse -and one that shouldn't be overlooked by others who want to learn the pure facts about plants/herbs.
