4 out of 5 stars Fun   December 8, 2007
I had the pleasure of seeing this concert live. The DVD does a super job of capturing a good concert. I have seen dozens of concerts by the Ladies and this was a good one. The group has many songs from which to choose and my only complaint with this effort was some of my favorites were missing. I plan on viewing this DVD many times.Talk to the Hand: Live in Michigan

2 out of 5 stars A rather listless performance   November 11, 2007

I have seen the BNL numerous times as well as having gone with them on their concert cruise last January. Instead of going beyond their last DVD which was a sampling of videos and live performances by doing a hard core, legnthy BNL concert, they give us BNL lite on their new dvd. They seem rather matter of fact with regard to their energy during the concert, the stage show is rather lifeless for BNL, the DTS sound track is without punch and the song selection suggests they are going to divide the concert into two dvd's since it leaves out so many classics and good new tunes.
While they were very involved with their fans on the cruise, the quality of the last two albums and this dvd suggests that marketing priorities may be favored over maintaining quality of song writing and performance. The quality of the concert dvd does not compare to a previous show broadcast on Directv some years ago or the clips from Barelaked Nadies. Barenaked Ladies fans will have to purchase this dvd as I did, but don't expect to bring the Barenaked Ladies concert experience into your home.

4 out of 5 stars "Oh Well What a Let Down"   November 6, 2007

I had anticipated this dvd release ever since it was announced. I am a huge fan of the ladies and have been for years, and after seeing them for the first time last year at Radio City I just loved them even more. I bragged to all my friends and my father about how good they were live and they were more of a show then a rock concert. I would tell everyone that even if you have never heard their music, you would still call it the best show youve ever seen live. I was so excited to hear this was being released so I could show everyone what they missed. Well this dvd doesnt do them justice.
You can see that they are nervous at times to be funny, and they had rehearsed (they even mentioned it on stage!) The recording isnt of the whole show, and I feel that it would have been a much better release if so much wasnt cut out. The set list was also a disappointment (opening with one week?? usually thats more towards the end when the crowd is more wound up) Well the performances that are included arent that bad however, they are truly a talented band. I was glad they added footage of Ed playing the banjo and Kevin playing his mandolin, and the hilarious pre-choreographed routine for Angry People (the highlight of the show). Although stated on the front as "packed with special feature", there really isnt any. There is a montage which is neat, but not necessary and the band doing a sound check to Angry People, which is overkill. The interview however is funny and adds humour to disc, for anyone who is a fan of the ladies and their live interviews its not a disappointed, although it is nothing spectacular. I pretty much lets you in on some weird fan experiences and five sentence version on the first meeting of Ed and Steve. I would say definatley pick it up if you are a BNL fan (as well as Barelaked Nadies) to complete your BNL DVD collection, but if you are looking for something similiar to the concert you saw, its a let down.
Here are the songs included in order:
1 One Week
2 The Old Apartment
3 Sound Of Your Voice
4 Bank Job
5 Too Little Too Late
6 Adrift
7 For You (Acoustic)
8 Be My Yoko Ono (Acoustic)
9 Wind It Up
10 Angry People
11 Pinch Me
12 Powder Blue
13 Brian Wilson
14 Easy
15 If I Had $1000000

5 out of 5 stars Concert was fantastic!!   September 27, 2007

I went to this concert at the "Pine DTE Energy Music Theatre Knob" on June 15, 2007. It was fantastic! They really went above and beyond their typically great and funny concerts for the creation of this DVD.

Any BNL Fan will love this dvd. I can't wait until it's release date to see some of the things that I missed live.

Update: I have seen the DVD and it was great. There were some talking bits that were cut from the live performance for the DVD. The special features were insightful. If I had to buy it again, I would buy the combo pack with the CD and DVD.
